Complete range of services for the car of the future: engineering specialist in-tech further expands its expertise in software
The vehicle electronics specialist in-tech has acquired a majority stake in the Braunschweig-based software company c4c Engineering. This will enable the successful Munich-based engineering company to map the entire product development process for vehicle electronics in the future.
"The vehicle of the future contains more and more software," explains Christian Wagner, one of the two founders and managing directors of in-tech. "From autonomous driving to networking the car with the environment: software and IT security will play a central role in automotive development in the coming years."
in-tech is now taking over 90% of the shares in c4c and is thus further expanding its range of services in the field of software and IT: "We are positioning ourselves as a full-service provider for the development of vehicle electronics and software. Together with c4c, we can now also carry out projects with a high software content and thus cover all phases of product development".
Further growth planned in Wolfsburg and worldwide
c4c managing director and co-partner Sascha Hummel is looking forward to the cooperation with the new majority shareholder: "The electronics and networking know-how of in-tech perfectly complements the software competence of c4c". And it's also right on a human level: "in-tech and c4c have a very similar, dynamic and employee-oriented corporate culture. We are looking forward to working closely together." In the summer, c4c will move into a new location in Wolfsburg together with in-tech - in-tech is building a 5000m² development centre there.
Through the investment, both companies will increase the team at the Wolfsburg location to a total of around 130 employees - and want to grow even further at the location. The software know-how of c4c will also be used at the other in-tech locations in Germany and abroad in the future: "For joint projects in the field of software and car IT, we will be able to use the expertise of c4c at all our locations in the future," says Christian Wagner.
The vehicle electronics specialist in-tech currently employs around 500 people and is active at four different locations in Germany. In addition, the engineering company also has branches in the USA, China and the Czech Republic.
The Brunswick-based company c4c Engineering currently employs around 75 highly qualified staff. c4c manages software projects from the research and development phase to series production - including in the areas of electromobility, driver information and navigation systems, driver assistance systems and automotive apps.
